Chapter 12 : SUPPLY SOURCE
“Isatia?” Winnie called several times, but received no response from Isatia at all. She remained silently leaning against the tree trunk, letting the wind gently lift her silky black hair.
Was she asleep again?
Winnie pondered, hesitating in place for a long while before finally deciding to go wake her up. Although this place was usually deserted, it still wasn't proper to leave a girl sleeping here unattended.
As Winnie moved nearer, he saw that Isatia was truly in a deep sleep. Her breathing was calm and steady, so much so that she didn’t sense his presence as he came up to her, halted before her, and knelt down.
Just like last time, reading in the library, next to a boy she barely knew, someone with whom she shared an unwanted engagement she was supposed to avoid, and still falling asleep leaning against him.

Isatia definitely wasn't a carefree girl. Perhaps, just like now, she had simply been overwhelmed by an irresistible drowsiness, forcing her to fall asleep here in the park with her book.
This gave Winnie a peculiar impression, he thought of a koala, awake only for a few hours each day, spending most of its time in slumber.

Winnie glanced at the book sprawled across Isatia's lap. Merely looking at its densely packed text made his scalp tingle with discomfort. Not only were many of the characters unfamiliar to him, but they were written in ancient Imperial script, obscure and difficult to decipher. Only a few characters resembling modern ones could he recognize.
Just a single glance made his brain throb faintly, as if it were about to explode, like he had stared directly at some forbidden, unspeakable text.
He rubbed his head, feeling as though he were reading scripture from another world.
Just as expected, another history book? And not a translated version, but the original from the Ancient Empire era.

As he reached to wake Isatia, his gaze shifted to her face. Suddenly, he saw her long, fan-like eyelashes flutter ever so slightly.
Winnie rubbed his eyes, unsure if he had imagined it.
But the next instant confirmed he hadn't. Isatia truly blinked her eyes, and upon locking sight on him, she was fully awakened.
Winnie felt he should be panicking now, but panicking wouldn't help. A guy crouching in front of a sleeping girl? That was awkward enough, right?

But that wasn't why he was scared.
What unsettled him wasn’t her slumber, but the cluster of gilded, elaborate spearheads now suspended at his throat. Winnie held his breath, afraid that even the faintest motion might drive those cold, razor-edged tips into his flesh.

Heh, heh… don’t worry, it’s nothing major, just a brief moment. Think back to when he, a young master from Camella, was knocked to his knees in a brawl in the capital, surrounded by people pointing sticks at him.
This was nothing. He'd been through worse. As the original story's final boss, what kind of situation hadn't he witnessed?
Wait! Had he actually experienced anything quite like this?
Winnie sucked in a cold breath. These golden spears weren't comparable to thugs' wooden sticks at all. Each exquisitely carved golden lance emanated a chilling aura that felt capable of stealing his very soul!
And those purple eyes, so similar to Aesphyra's, were sharp and noble, radiating an innate, powerful presence of a supreme ruler. They stared down at him like a crowned deity observing a pitiful insect that dared trespass.
Woah?! My life's over?!

Could it be, he had triggered the heroine's emergency defense mechanism?!
How could Isatia's alertness be as sharp as a wild cat's?!
If she stabbed him now, would he die instantly, or summon Vanessa instead?!
Winnie felt doomed, but fortunately, the situation didn't last long.
“It's you?” Upon recognizing who stood before her, Isatia's eyes lost much of their vigilance and coldness.
She retracted her soul armament, and the golden spears floating in the air, like loyal guards, dissolved into delicate, intricate runes.

“Why are you here?” Isatia didn't get up, or rather, her body hadn't moved at all, only her eyes had. Meanwhile, the golden spears had already fallen like raindrops to Winnie's sides.
At this moment, she calmly stared at him, waiting for his explanation.

“Uh... uh..." Wasn't this the bloodline of the Tyrell Royal Family? Under the gaze of those purple eyes, Winnie felt an inexplicable fear and dread, like a vampire dragged into sunlight, instinctively wanting to avoid eye contact, wanting to flee. The intimidating pressure was overwhelming.
If Aesphyra ever unleashed her full power, would it feel this terrifying too?
“I... I saw you sleeping in the abandoned park, so I thought maybe you were in the same state as last time,” Winnie hesitantly explained, speaking slowly.
“So?” Isatia remains expressionless, calmly staring at Winnie.

“So? So I thought I'd come check. After all, if it's the same as last time, a girl sleeping in a place like this is a bit…”
“You wanted to help me?”
“Ah? Ah, well... I suppose you could say that,” Winnie nodded dumbly.
“Hmph.” Before Winnie could finish, he saw Isatia let out a light laugh.

But it wasn't a friendly smile, it was more like a mocking one. Although perhaps she didn't mean it that way, Winnie could feel it.
It seemed to say, 'Can you really help me?', something along those lines, carrying an unmistakable, subtle air of disdain.

This was probably a personality shaped by Isatia's upbringing since childhood.
Winnie wanted to say something, but held back.
Fine. He had overestimated himself. Did a grand imperial princess really need his help?
Shouldn't it be the other way around?
“Oh, then... I won't disturb you. I'll be going now.” Winnie waved his hand with an awkward smile and turned to leave.
Damn it. He'd thought Aesphyra was already tough to deal with, but now there was an even higher level. Isatia seemed to be the most difficult personality among all the heroines. Impossible to get along with. Better leave quickly.

But as he turned to leave, perhaps still shaken from earlier, a green potion slipped out of his pocket, rolling down to land by Isatia's leg.
“Ah, sorry, sorry. My item fell.” Winnie said, reaching to pick it up. But the potion had rolled right to the inner part of Isatia's legs, putting him in an extremely awkward position, unable to pick it up, yet unable to leave it.
If he reached for it, wouldn't he be instantly pierced by a thousand spears?
"Alchemy potion? What kind of potion is this?" Isatia asked casually upon seeing it.
“Ah, this? It's not anything harmful,” Winnie quickly explained, only to be immediately locked under Isatia's gaze.
“What kind of potion is it?” Isatia's eyes, no matter what emotions they held, carried an overwhelming sense of interrogation.

“A recovery-type,” Winnie thought. If he didn't tell the truth, she might suspect he was trying to poison her with this suspicious green liquid. He had no choice but to confess.
“Recovery-type? The color doesn't seem quite right,” Isatia said, picking up the green potion and slowly observing the swirling liquid within.

“Well, modern potions come in all sorts of colors. Before labels are attached, who knows what they do? And even with labels, they might be wrong,” Winnie recalled. “If you don't believe me, I'll drink it right here. Would that satisfy you?”
“What kind of recovery effect does it have?” Isatia asked.
“Um, I don't know all the effects yet, but mainly, I think it treats mental fatigue,” Winnie said thoughtfully.
“So this is a potion not available on the market?”
Èn̂u m̀ ӑ
“Ah, you could say that,” Winnie replied, unsure what Isatia was getting at.
“You said it treats mental fatigue? How effective is it?”
“Pretty good, I'd say. I tested it myself, after one sip, I felt completely energized,” Winnie said.
“Did you make this potion yourself?”

“Well... that's complicated to explain,” Winnie naturally couldn't reveal the truth.
“Fine. I'll buy this bottle. Can I try it?” Just as Winnie was thinking how to respond to her next question, Isatia completely dropped the topic and instead said this.

“Ah?!” Winnie froze. “Y-you're sure?!”
“What, any concerns?”
“No concerns, but... this is an unlicensed, unbranded, unknown product with no market presence!” Winnie exclaimed in surprise.
Would the Empire's Princess, even if ill, resort to desperate measures like this? With the entire Tyrell Empire's top alchemists and physicians at her disposal, she wouldn't need to turn to random roadside remedies, would she?
“Isn't that better?” Isatia tilted her head slightly.
“Ah?!” Winnie was completely baffled. He realized he couldn't understand this princess's thoughts at all.

“Or is it non-saleable?” Isatia modified down at the potion in her hand.
“Ah, not exactly, but... aren't you afraid it might be poisoned or something?”
“Do you have any reason to harm me?” Isatia interrupted before he could finish.
“N-no, of course not,” Winnie pursed his lips.
“Then why should I worry?”
“Uh... I suppose there's no reason,” Winnie found himself unable to answer, staring at the decision, sharp black-haired girl before him.

Even if she didn't suspect poison, shouldn't she at least be cautious about the safety of an unlicensed potion?
This Princess really was…

How to put it? Her personality, decisive, without hesitation or doubt, was surprisingly similar to Aesphyra's.
Was it because both shared the Carillian family bloodline?
Then, Winnie watched as Isatia gently unscrewed the cap, sniffed the green liquid inside, and drank it.
Winnie stood silently beside her, saying nothing.

After drinking, Isatia slowly opened her eyes, which now shone with clarity, unlike their previous dullness. Her entire demeanor brightened, her concealed aura unfolding like a divine bird breaking free from its cage.
Winnie's eyes widened slightly. Just from drinking it, her entire presence had transformed.
It confirmed his suspicion, Isatia had indeed been in terrible condition. She must have been suffering from some illness causing chronic mental exhaustion, forcibly shutting down her consciousness.
And it was a strange illness, one that even Tyrell Empire's top medical and alchemical teams couldn't cure.

Just now, Isatia probably had no other options. No matter what treatments she tried, nothing worked. Even the finest elixirs had no effect. In desperation, she decided to test a random roadside remedy.
But Winnie sensed that Isatia hadn't made this decision lightly. The instincts of these fated heroines were astonishingly accurate. Most likely, it was that mysterious, inexplicable 'intuition' that guided her choice to drink his potion.
Е n̂ ǔ m а . і̊ d
As for why a disease incurable by the Empire's top physicians could be cured by him, the answer was simple.
Although a byproduct, this was a genuine Blessed Angel's Kiss, refined through immense effort. Was there any illness in this world that the Blessed Angel's Kiss couldn't cure?
Impossible. Blessed Angel's KISS was a divine remedy capable of healing even curses directly imposed by Demon God Pillars. Treating mental fatigue was child's play.
Isatia surveyed her surroundings, then looked down at the book on her lap. The text, previously blurred by exhaustion, now appears crystal clear. Everything had returned to how it was when her backlash hadn't yet impaired her consciousness.
A flicker of astonishment passed through her purple eyes. Even she, who had only acted on instinct and curiosity, hadn't expected this mysterious green potion of unknown origin to truly restore her energy and vitality.
This was something even the highest-grade vitality potions had failed to achieve.

Initially, high-tier vitality potions had some effect, but over time, their effectiveness diminished, eventually becoming completely useless. They no longer helped her at all.
This special vitality potion differs from ordinary ones. After drinking it, Isatia felt her drained spirit instantly revitalized, like a dried-up ancient well suddenly gushing forth sweet spring water, nourishing everything within.
“Do you have more of this potion?” Isatia stared intently at Winnie. “If you do, I'll buy all of it. Money is no issue.”
“Also, if you have a supply source, I'd be happy to purchase that as well.”
“Um, Isatia, I don't actually have a supply source,” Winnie twitched his slightly.
A supply source? The source was himself. But his essence and blood were nearly drained dry. He couldn't recover for a long time, and even when he did, he never wanted to go through that process again, it was too painful!
